BACKGROUND

Natural botanicals continue to grow in popularity throughout the personal

care industry as consumers opt for recognizable ingredients and vegan

alternatives. Crataegus oxyacantha, or hawthorn, is a widely utilized Chinese

herb that is still used today for its beneficial properties. Hawthorn offers

leaves, berries, flowers, and stems that are commonly used for medicinal

purposes including conditions such as heart disease, chest pain, and

circulatory concerns. The valuable attributes of Hawthorn have migrated

into the personal care industry to provide rejuvenation to the skin and hair.

SCIENCE & BENEFITS

Cosmetic applications focus on advantages of hawthorn including known

antioxidant and antimicrobial features. Antioxidants provide protection

against free radical damage on skin and hair. This cellular damage ultimately

results in fine lines and wrinkles while promoting dry, brittle hair. Antioxidants

are also known to counteract and reduce pigmentation, offering a smooth

and even complexion. Antimicrobial properties address problem skin and

breakouts, which can be the result of unbalanced skin bacteria.

Anti-inflammatory effects of hawthorn round out an innovative anti-aging

botanical. Addressing redness and inflammation, hawthorn is known to

offset aging while nourishing the skin. Proper moisturization for the skin,

scalp, or hair can revitalize the complexion and protect against environmental

contaminants. As a traditional Chinese herb, hawthorn is believed to

encourage health from within. For centuries, hawthorn has promoted

vitality and health from herbal remedies to today’s skin care.

Storage: in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 32°C. Based on stability

studies, the optimum storage temperature for maximization of shelf life is 23 -

25°C.

Shelf life: 12 months, properly stored in sealed container.
This product should be adde to a formulation at the recommended usage rate.
