Codariocalyx motorius, commonly known as the telegraph plant or dancing plant, is a tropical Asian shrub that grows up to 4 feet tall. Native to China and Southeastern regions, the telegraph plant is one of the few plants capable of rapid movement1. Sound stimulated motion causes larger leaflets to move up and down throughout the day while the smaller leaflets exhibit rhythmic movements (1). Other than the unique reaction to sound, the telegraph plant have been used in Chinese medicine for centuries to treat inflammation. Additionally, C. motorius exhibits potent antioxidant properties due to the high content of polyphenols, capable of scavenging free radicals and reducing lipid peroxidation (2). FSS Telegraph Plant Extract G can be used in variety of skin and haircare formulations to capitalize on the benefits associated with telegraph plant.
