Leucidal® SF MAX is the newest evolution in the Leucidal® product line, developed to meet the growing preference for natural preservatives. Enhanced through an optimized fermentation process, it provides robust, broad-spectrum antimicrobial efficacy, thanks to its elevated bacteriocin levels. This probiotic-based ingredient, derived from Lactobacillus fermentation, offers a potent alternative to traditional synthetic preservatives, ensuring both safety and performance in a wide array of cosmetic formulations.

MADE OF:

Leucidal® SF MAX is a potent probiotic ingredient derived from the fermentation of Lactobacillus in a controlled growth medium. Lactobacillus, used in the production of fermented foods like kimchi and sauerkraut, not only acidifies its environment to inhibit other microorganisms but also produces antimicrobial peptides called bacteriocins. These peptides offer broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection. During production, lysozyme is added to the ferment filtrate to facilitate controlled cell lysis, ensuring the release and effectiveness of these antimicrobial peptides.

Scientifically Proven

🧴 Moisturization Study: A study compared a control, a generic cream, and a cream with 2.0% Leucidal® SF Max. Leucidal® SF Max boosted moisturization by 14.38% after 24 hours and 25.00% after 4 weeks, showing great moisturizing effects plus antimicrobial benefits.

🦠 Antimicrobial Efficacy: Leucidal® SF Max strengthens the antimicrobial peptides from the original Leucidal® Liquid SF. MIC tests confirm its wide antimicrobial protection.

🔬 Preservation Testing: Double Challenge Tests with 2.0% and 4.0% Leucidal® SF Max in cream at pH 3, 5, and 7 showed effective preservation, especially at pH 5 with 4.0%, proving its safety and stability.

Please note that the Leucidal® line of products are not conventional preservatives but multifunctional natural antimicrobials. While these products have been successfully used in formulations for nearly two decades, integrating a natural antimicrobial isn't as straightforward as swapping it for a synthetic preservative—formulation techniques may need to be adjusted to ensure effective preservation.
AMT’s natural antimicrobials undergo stringent challenge testing based on Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) Microbiology Guidelines, demonstrating strong performance against common bacteria, yeast, and mold. Leucidal® Liquid offers broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection, though some formulas may require an additional antifungal booster like AMTicide® Coconut. It's also important to understand that AMT ingredients are not biocidal and are not intended to eliminate pre-existing bioburdens; rather, they help safeguard final formulations from contamination. Given the potential for contamination during production, it is crucial for manufacturers to establish and follow rigorous quality control protocols.

Storage

Keep container closed.
Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 32°C. Based on stability studies, the optimum storage temperature for maximization of shelf life is 23-25°C. However, it may be stored at temperatures between 16 and 32°C if such specific temperature control is not available. Do not freeze. Please refer to stability data for effects heat or cold may have on the specifications of the product.

Formulation Guidelines:

We recommend starting with 4.0%
Leucidal® SF Max. Incorporate Leucidal® SF Max into formulations at a pH between 3 and 8,
during the cooling phase of the process at
temperatures lower than 70oC. With viscosity modifiers, it is best to add Leucidal® SF Max prior to the thickener.
