Please note that the Leucidal® line of products are not conventional preservatives but multifunctional natural antimicrobials. While these products have been successfully used in formulations for nearly two decades, integrating a natural antimicrobial isn't as straightforward as swapping it for a synthetic preservative—formulation techniques may need to be adjusted to ensure effective preservation.
AMT’s natural antimicrobials undergo stringent challenge testing based on Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) Microbiology Guidelines, demonstrating strong performance against common bacteria, yeast, and mold. Leucidal® Liquid offers broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection, though some formulas may require an additional antifungal booster like AMTicide® Coconut. It's also important to understand that AMT ingredients are not biocidal and are not intended to eliminate pre-existing bioburdens; rather, they help safeguard final formulations from contamination. Given the potential for contamination during production, it is crucial for manufacturers to establish and follow rigorous quality control protocols.

Storage

Keep container closed.
Recommended Storage Conditions: Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 32°C.

Based on stability studies, the optimum storage temperature for maximization of shelf life is 23-25°C.

However, it may be stored at temperatures between 16 and 32°C if such specific temperature control is not available. Do not freeze. Please refer to stability
data for effects heat or cold may have on the specifications of the product.

Packaging

Product may be packaged in normal commercial packaging. Packaging materials: Recommended - Polypropylene & High Density Polyethylene

Shelf Life

12 months from the date of manufacture.

Formulation Guidelines:

Incorporate Leucidal® Liquid near the end of the formulating process, and only after the formulation has cooled to below 40°C. Works well in cationic, anionic, amphoteric, and nonionic surfactant systems when added at the right stage.

Cationic and Nonionic Gel/Aqueous Systems:
Excellent when added at the end of the process and after cooling to below 40°C. Avoid highly anionic thickeners as Leucidal® Liquid may be incompatible due to its cationic nature.

Anionic, Amphoteric, and Nonionic Surfactant Systems: Viscosity Loss may occur; if so, increase or add a thickener to counteract this effect.

When Using Xanthan Gum: Charge water, add Leucidal® Liquid, and mix until uniform. Then pre-disperse xanthan gum in a polyol and add it.
Mixing: Avoid high shear mixing during addition.

When Using Hyaluronic Acid (Low/High MW):
Charge water, add Leucidal® Liquid, and mix until uniform. Then add hyaluronic acid under high shear mixing.

When Using Carbomer Systems:
For a gel, use 0.5-1.0% carbomer with 2-4.0% Leucidal® Liquid. Add Leucidal® Liquid at the end of processing after the carbomer has been neutralized.
Decrease Leucidal® Liquid concentration to improve clarity. Increasing pH to 6.0-7.0 also helps with compatibility. Solubilizers are not effective in this case.

Handling Lipophilic Peptides:
When interacting with anionic materials, haze may occur. Use a solubilizer to improve clarity.
