While we hear about collagen quite often, procollagen is not as common. This type of collagen is overlooked, however it is needed to keep the skin looking young. FSS Marine ProCollagen is derived from fish soluble procollagen, in its most pristine form, to provide excellent hydrating and film-forming properties.

Procollagen is a soluble precursor of collagen formed by fibroblasts in the process of collagen synthesis. Without procollagen, collagen could not be properly formed and our skin would have poor structure. Procollagen has a unique amino acid profile and is essentially the building block of collagen. Well utilized by the skin, procollagen provides optimal conditioning properties while working to support proper collagen synthesis within the skin. By supporting collagen synthesis, collagen can properly form providing the skin with a supple appearance. 

Collagen is an essential protein and one of the strongest building blocks for our skin, teeth, bones and organs and makes up 25% of the bodies protein content. It provides strength to many bodily tissues and is responsible for the skin’s strength and elasticity.

Collagen is created by fibroblasts, which are special cells found in the dermal layer of the skin and are responsible for the production of collagen, elastin and fibronection to form structural support within the skin. Fibroblasts synthesize collagen within the cell, utilizing procollagen, and release it through exocytosis, the release of molecules through the cell membrane. Once outside the cell, the collagen molecules will self-assemble and create the structure within the skin.

Degradation of collagen leads to wrinkles that accompany the aging process. Collagen synthesis slows down as we age which contributes to the skin becoming loose. Collagen within the skin needs to be restored so that skin will look smoother and tighter thus minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

FSS Marine ProCollagen may be used to restore a firm and youthful appearance while effectively hydrating the skin. When used in hair care, FSS Marine ProCollagen can moisturize the hair and scalp to reduce breakage and improve the health of hair. Storage: Protected from direct light and humidity at a temperature of 50°-77°F (10°-25°C) 

Shelf life: 12 months, properly stored, in sealed container. 

This product should be added to a formulation at the recommended usage rate.
